Oakland Avenue Design

Trans Associates was contracted with WTW Architects to widen Oakland Avenue (S.R. 0286) for left turn lanes into the new Indiana University of Pennsylvania Parking Garage on Papermill Avenue in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  This project was a partnership between PennDOT District 10-0 and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Our services included:

  • Traffic data collection and summary.
  • Developed a Traffic Study for Oakland Avenue.
  • Widened 1,950 feet of Oakland Avenue to provide a continuous center turn lane.
  • Coordinated with Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad for a railroad crossing.
  • Designed Papermill Avenue from the IUP Garage to Oakland Avenue.
  • Prepared Construction Plans in accordance with PennDOT Design Manual 3.
  • Prepared Right of Way Plans in accordance with PennDOT Design Manual 3.
  • Prepared a Storm Water Management report for the project.
  • Developed an Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan.
  • Coordinated with Benchmark Engineering for surveying PennDOT District 10-0 and Michael Baker, Inc. for the Traffic Signal Design.
